I think often of the preacher who told me when I first started in pastoral ministry: “Be prepared for more people to attend the church barbecue than the church prayer meeting.”
He told me that, I think, because he didn’t want me to be disappointed when the church’s priorities were misaligned. But he also wanted me know there was always something to do about it.
