More on When God Knocks

Join us as we explore how our faith brings us together and the importance of our decisions to attend church. We’ll consider changes in our worship, the importance of listening, and a reflection on Jesus’ parable of the wedding banquet.

COULD CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS BE KEEPING US FROM SERVING JESUS?

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DAY ONE

MATTHEW 22:1-14

Reflect on the immense grace and love of God, who invites everyone to share in God’s feast, regardless of who they are. Consider how the King in this parable symbolizes God, inviting everyone to the feast. Meditate on God’s boundless love and how we are called to share it with others.

Question: How can you live out the message of this parable in your everyday life?

DAY TWO

LUKE 20:9-19

Reflect on the implications of the Parable of the Tenants for our lives today. Consider the attitudes of the tenants and their refusal to listen to the landowner’s messengers. Think about how this parable calls us to be attentive listeners and active disciples in our faith communities.

Question: How can you become a better listener and more active participant in your faith community?

DAY THREE

ROMANS 13:14

Reflect on the concept of putting on Christ like a garment. This is symbolic of living a life that mirrors the teachings of Jesus, living as a follower (disciple) of Jesus. Think about how you can “wear” your faith in your daily interactions.

Question: How can you “put on Christ” in your daily interactions and responses?

DAY FOUR

MATTHEW 13:1-23

Consider how the different responses in the Parable of the Sower reflect different attitudes within our faith communities. Reflect on the importance of not only hearing God’s word but understanding and acting upon it.

Question: How can you ensure that you are not only a hearer of the Word but also a doer?

DAY FIVE

1 CORINTHIANS 9:19-23

Reflect on the call to adapt our methods of sharing the gospel to meet people where they are. Contemplate how you can become “all things to all people” in order to effectively share the love of God.

Question: How can you adapt your approach to sharing the gospel to meet people where they are?
