Those ugly cards that work

Every Sunday our church welcomes every person in worship. We recognize and thank God for those people who have been around the church forever, F-O-R-E-V-E-R!  They have served on every committee, have prayed for the church and most likely have bought their more-than-fair share of bake sale items.  And they keep coming to worship.  So, we thank God for them. For the last couple of weeks, our church has hosted this year’s Lenten soup dinner and worship. There have been 60+ people that have attended each week, mostly Lutherans and Methodists—there has to be a joke in there somewhere.  We’re hoping this is a time where our community churches can come together. It’s funny. I read about churches having to cancel their Ash Wednesday services this year due to bad weather conditions. Of course, that was a hard decision for many pastors and churches to have to make. Then again I read about others whose only wish was to be able to cancel their Ash Wednesday plans.
