I should have not left a comment, but it hit me wrong that day.
I had just preached a sermon about the ways of Christ not holding up in “the real world.” Someone posted a quote from General Norman Schwarzkopf. Speaking of terrorists, Storming Norman said, “Forgiving them is God’s function. Our job is simply to arrange the meeting.”
Of course, the problem with that is not just that it’s not a legitimate quote. The issue is that sounds nothing like Jesus.
I’m hoping we Christians stop sharing these kinds of things. They don’t mix well with our faith in the risen Lord.
A general rule of thumb could be, if we can’t imagine Christ saying it, why would we venerate it?
